We decided to eat local on sat evening and were well rewarded with the fabulous food in the firth. We all had 3 courses and all had something different. Its a limited menu but everything is fresh and cooked to order - home made by the chef now in his 3rd year of training under a chef from Claridges - and you can tell!! chilli prawns- duck rolls, spicy beef, even the chicken pie was mouthwatering (Thanks apparently to half a bottle of sherry in the claridges recipe!) And the sweets.... a towering triple choc cheesecake, melt in your mouth pavlova or try the coconut creme brulee. All Delicious! The only thing that would have improved the evening is if more people had been there.... Only 6 of us in a room which takes 24. So come on all you locals get in there and support this little gem. You will pay 2 or 3 time more in carlisle for food of this standard! Thanks for a great night Chef!

Our venture started when i asked my 80 year young mum where she would like to go as i had a week off work she is a very well travelled lady she has been all over the world but never Scotland so off we set with no bookings made and our first stop was Annan where we found Moira & Dick and The Firth ! What perfect host's and so clean you could eat your food off the floor the breakfast you served was first class and those beds were so comfy neither of us wanted to get up to carry on our travels you were a great start to our Scotland tour so much so we booked back in for our last night at the end of the week. After that we branded your hotel name around wherever we went thank you so much for a lovely stay and we will be back some day

:D:D:D:DAlthough I have never stayed at this wonderful Hotel I have been lucky enough to get a guided tour of all the bedrooms, lounge and kitchen facility, they are very clean, well decorated, modern, reasonable priced and the Proprietors Moira & Dick are a very nice Husband & Wife team who make sure your stay will be remembered.

You may think when you come here to stay, you come as a stranger but you will leave as a friend, they treat every guest as a friend they have not met yet.

Over the years I have been coming here (as a regular) I have seen the Hotel improve bit by bit, as a matter of fact Dick has been up the ladders last night (10:30pm 11/09/08) refurbishing the bar area (no mean task) and they will be getting brand new furnishing shortly and if you are lucky you may be here on the grand Cocktail opening night !!

If you are lucky enough to stay you may pick a night they are putting on a Whisky Tasting or a Cheese & Wine night which are very well attended by the local people,
there is usually a Piper on the Whisky nights and sometimes someone get out an old guitar, it is informal and if I can remember right a really good night ha-ha.

Although I did not have the opportunity to stay at your beautiful establishment, I did happen by chance to stop in one afternoon while on a weekend trip from Oxford recently (two weeks ago). It was rather cool and rainy and thought we'd stop in for some hot tea. I met the most beautiful barmaid I had ever set eyes on that day. She was young and blonde, with a soft voice and an accent that I'd never tire of hearing!
Anyway, I wanted to write the first chance I had upon returning home to tell you of the wonderful experience I had there; however brief it was. My stay may have been brief but the kindness shown me will be remembered always. I should like to stay there sometime if I ever get the chance to return to Scotland. Thank that bonny lass for her kindness!
